At the last minute we decided to leave earlier than we had originally planned. Teresa arrived to pick me up at 6:15 AM. We stopped and got coffee and donuts for the kids and hit the highway. We stopped for a bathroom break at Keith's parents in Macon and again for lunch in Valdosta. No matter how you break it up, it's a good 8 hour drive from Woodstock to Cocoa Beach. Teresa seemed to have fun blocking road signs that the kids and I were trying to take photos of...the Florida state line sign and the Ron Jon signs that told us how much farther to Cocoa Beach. We made it to the hotel in time to watch the two ships in port leave.
The Kramer's arrived shortly after us and we took a ride to the beach before deciding on dinner. The kids wanted Burger King so we gave them funds and they walked across the parking lot and enjoyed having diner together...the six of them. Pat Long arrived and the migration was complete. We decided after securing some alcohol that pizza was in order for the adults before relaxing and turning in for the night. End of day 1....we all arrived safely in Cocoa Beach...woot, woot.
